Summit Equestrian is a non-profit therapeutic riding center located in
the La Cabreah neighborhood of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We strive daily to
improve the lives of children and adults of ALL abilities through the
interaction with horses. We focus on addressing cognitive, physical, and
emotional disabilities through the benefits of therapeutic horseback
riding and other equine-assisted activities.
SEC was established in October 2010 as a PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) Member Center to provide safe and effective riding lessons to people in the Fort Wayne area. Our facility, horses and equipment are ready to help people with a wide range of challenges enjoy the thrill of riding horses. Our horses are chosen for their kind of demeanor and are the steady foundation of our riding program.
Through our therapeutic riding program, we guide our riders to become as independent as possible and strive to reach new heights. The philosophy of our beginner riding program is to establish comprehensive foundation of horse knowledge and encourage our students to set and reach goals. There is more to riding horses than the action of riding and learning the whole package from the start establishes a great work ethic.
Summit instructors have created the Ribbons Program, which is a series of levels each one building on knowledge, riding and horsemanship components. Students receive comprehensive instruction on not only riding but also horse care. The Ribbons Program will encourage each of our students to work at achieving skills and allow them to progress at their own success rate.
